Journey Miami Gardens Concert reviews
Max & Jill Play in the Garden
The night of wonderful Neo-Soul was absolutely superb!! Both artists performed some new joints, and their classics that I expected. Also, I was very impressed with the venue, as it was my first time attending an event at the Madison Square Garden Theater. It was really happy because I didn't even have to use my binoculars to see the performers up close and all thanks to the large video screens near the stage. Overall, it was a very positive musical experience with two of my most favorite musical artists. I wish each one went even longer. I wish Jill also would have performed "Talk to Me," one of my personal favorites. It wouldn't have hurt to have the two superstars do at least one duet or something in the transition between the two. Otherwise, it makes me wonder why they're even double-billed for the event. Journey was loved in the throwback black and white video and silhouette in the beginning of his set. Loved the dancing girls on stage in silhouette with Jill, since she doesn't dance much. Loved how us diehard Jill Scott fans did what we usually do -- a singalong of sorts to some of her most popular songs like "The Way." Glad she didn't let us sing the whole song though. After all, we did pay for "her" to sing it. It must feel great for an artist to realize just how loyal and invested their fans and audience is when they can sing, chapter and verse, a song penned by the artists and with the nuances too. It was interactive and funny. At least in my row, we really enjoyed that.
